General Education Curriculum Policy

Based on the university’s Diploma Policy, Fuji Women’s University ensures that students acquire competencies in the following areas: knowledge & skills, critical thinking & analytical ability, problem-solving & execution skills, communication & expressivity skills, and personal development. The undergraduate curriculum is structured around General Education Courses and Specialized Courses designed according to the educational goals of each faculty and department. 

1.General Education Courses
To cultivate an understanding of diverse cultures, philosophies, and values while building essential academic skills, Fuji Women’s University offers General Education Courses to all students. These include:

  • Founding Principles Courses: These courses focus on the university's core values, including Christian love, service, and tolerance, while fostering global and local engagement.
  • Startup Seminars & Practical Liberal Arts Courses: These courses help students develop independent learning habits and essential skills for life beyond graduation. They cover areas such as career development, mathematical/data science & AI education, and scientific literacy.
  • Core Liberal Arts Courses: These provide an interdisciplinary approach to understanding social issues from multiple perspectives.
  • Foreign Language Courses: These enhance students' ability to communicate effectively and confidently in foreign languages with people from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

2.Specialized Courses
Specialized courses are designed within each faculty and department to cultivate in-depth academic knowledge and problem-solving skills relevant to contemporary society.

3.Teaching Methods
To enhance educational effectiveness and encourage active student participation, a combination of teaching methods is used, including:

  • Lectures, seminars, experiments, practical training, and hands-on activities
  • Active learning, experiential education, and advanced use of multimedia for online instruction
  • Semester- and quarter-based course structures for flexible scheduling
  • Evaluation and Assessment

4.To ensure fair and rigorous academic evaluation, an Assessment Policy has been established and is publicly available. Student learning outcomes are systematically monitored and analyzed, and these outcomes guide curriculum improvements to enhance educational effectiveness.
